As either a speaker, moderator, panelist, or organizer, I bring the topic of weight stigma and fat activism to the table. I present on the harmful effects of weight stigma in healthcare, eating disorder treatment, dietetics, and dietetics training and explain how fat activism offers remedies to anti-fat bias.
I encourage audience members to ask themselves difficult questions as they examine their own explicit and implicit bias. In addition to providing information about weight stigma research and fat activism, I also share practical tips for individuals to reflect on and continue to examine their room for growth after the presentation is over. I encourage my audience to be compassionate yet direct with themselves as they uncover biases that they previously never thought existed.
I’ve had the great pleasure of speaking at various national and regional conferences. I have also been invited to speak in academic and healthcare settings and at local community events. My audiences range from community members to healthcare providers, professors, and students.
I support healthcare providers to improve their relationships with people of size. I help educators learn how to make the classroom a safer space for all bodies and add weight-inclusive care to traditional curriculums. I encourage community members to be curious about how these topics affect their health, sense of identity, and embodiment. Contact me for more information about booking me at your next event.
